Benefits adviser

The benefits adviser is an online questionnaire to help you find out which benefits and tax credits you, your family (or anyone you act on behalf of) may be entitled to, and eligibility to the State Pension.

How to use the benefits adviser

Answer questions about savings, income and outgoings to:

  • check which benefits you may be eligible for
  • get an estimate of what you may receive
  • find out how a change in circumstances could affect your benefits

Before you start

You may find it useful to have the following information to hand before you start:

  • earnings, eg wages slips
  • your savings
  • benefit / pension details
  • outgoings, eg Council Tax, rent/mortgage, childcare payments
  • your Local Housing Allowance rate (for low income tenants renting privately)

Important:
Currently, the benefits adviser may not provide accurate estimates for customers and their partners entitled to:

  • Working Tax Credits
  • Pension Credits
  • Employment and Support Allowance

or have savings of over £6000.

If you leave the benefits adviser, you’ll get ‘timed out’ at 20 minutes and have to start again.
